BA (Hons) Fashion Design with Foundation Year

This course introduces students to creative practice, focusing on theoretical, practical, and technical components. In early stages, students develop essential skills for academic success and personal growth, emphasizing reflection and technical skills like visual communication. As they progress, they engage with methodologies, enhancing understanding of processes and fostering critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving. Later units emphasize specialization and independent learning, encouraging self-initiated projects and professional outcomes. Throughout, students refine analytical, academic writing, and project management skills, promoting a holistic approach to creative practice.

In Memoriam

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Jackie McCoy, MBE, SFHEA, MIoD, Chair of the Board of Governors at Victoria College of Arts & Design.

Jackie was an exceptional leader who brought a wealth of experience, knowledge and genuine warmth to VCAD. Her distinguished career and contribution to higher education, business and the arts leaves an enduring legacy.

It was a privilege for everyone at VCAD to have worked with Jackie and to benefit from her guidance, wisdom and support. She will be greatly missed by our Board, colleagues and the wider VCAD community.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Jackie’s family, friends and all those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Rest in peace, Jackie. You will be greatly missed. 🤍
